Four weeks, I’m leaving the United States in four weeks…
I’m Brianna, but most people simply call me Bri; and in just four short weeks I will be boarding a plane to Alcal de Henares, Spain a town outside of Madrid. I honestly can’t believe it, because how could I possibly be lucky enough to get to spend a semester studying a new language and culture? It’s true though, and I am at times so excited that I want to be there right now, and at other times so nervous that I want to hide under my covers. I think know that I’m not alone in this regard, and that definitely makes me feel more at ease. It’s really a beautiful town, this is a picture of the Plaza de Cervantes. Alcal is the birthplace of Miguel Cervantes, most well-known for his novel Don Quixote. While I study at the CIEE Instituto, I will be living with a Hispanic family. This may be what I am most excited about, I don’t think there is a better way to discover a new lifestyle then by completely immersing yourself in it. Family is very important to me, and what could be better than having another family away from home?
