Hey everybody,
My name is Paul and I’m currently a sophomore majoring in Finance, German, Spanish, and International Studies, with a minor in International Business (yes, I will have four degrees). I will be spending the 2010/11 academic year at Philips Universitt Marburg in Marburg, Germany. It’s been 8 long years since I’ve lived in Germany, and I’m excited to go back!
I look forward to becoming a resident of Marburg and taking an active role in life there. My first order of business, after getting moved in, setting up my Internet, and getting a cell phone, will be to join a local tennis club. I love tennis and this will be a great way for me to easily get to know people with whom I can establish lasting relationships. If possible, I would like to try and work at the club, giving lessons or helping out with clinics. It may be tough getting a work permit, but it would definitely be worth the trouble.
I have many goals while at Marburg, so I will only list three of them, and name others as the year progresses. My first goal is to improve my German t the point that I make minimal use of a dictionary and understand all different types of text/conversations/etc. I also hope to take an active part in student life at Marburg and make plenty of new friends. A third goal is to do as much traveling across Germany and Europe as possible–college is the best time to travel, and I want to take advantage of the opportunity in front of me.
I’ll keep you all posted on my travels and experiences, and hopefully at least a handful of you will post some comments. Until my next blog post,
Paul
