Somehow, after all this time of geoblogging and adventuring in Japan, I managed to forget to talk about the campus where I’ve been learning! I’ve mentioned before that I attend Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan. It’s a private university and the only Catholic missionary school in the Chubu region. Compared to PSU’s main campus, it’s quite small, consisting of one long main road with buildings, a green lawn area, and the tennis/soccer/archery practices areas branching away from it.
Our first impressions of this place were definitely a bit skewed; it had been almost empty then, no students, just the study abroad kids with free reign of campus. However, on a regular day, this place is milling with people and activity. It’s a perfect place to make Japanese friends, pick up on Japanese social behaviors, and with the nearby on-campus convenience store, you couldn’t find a better campus to try Japanese food.
Not to mention that the R building, where many of the study abroad kids have classes, has the best view of the city of Nagoya around.
