Whenever you visit a place that you’ve been planning on going to for a very long time, there’s always a sort of list of things that you absolutely have to do. I’ve been very productive over the past few weeks in terms of that.
1. Take a picture with the amazing Japanese University I’m attending:
2. Take pictures in kimonos!:
Check.
3. Do something completely unexpected:
How about attend a free art exhibition for Assassin’s Creed?
Check!
It’s always amazing to be in another country, experiencing culture, meeting people, trying new foods. That’s always a guaranteed part of the study abroad. But when it comes to fulfilling private goals, however minor, it gives off a completely different sense of fulfillment and completion. I didn’t have to necessarily do any of these things, but because I personally set myself to finishing these off, I feel like this trip itself just got a little bit better, richer, more detailed and interesting.
Of course, I still have some things left on my list! For one, I’d like to spend a day going to random subway stops and exploring the areas there. I’d like to find a new favorite place to visit or eat. I’d like to speak to a stranger. And I’d like to fall in love with something and buy it immediately, even though I never anticipated on buying it in the first place!
Good thing I still have plenty of months to go!
