Italy, Germany, am I really studying in England?!

Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while, but I have literally not been home at all. Let’s start at the beginning… Since we had a 6 day weekend from school, my friends and I decided to go to Italy for 6 days! We flew into Rome, spent some time site-seeing, and then made our way up the country until we got to Milan. Our stops included Rome, the Vatican city, Florence, Venice, Verona and Milan. We literally saw EVERYTHING! In 6 days, we went to 6 places. We had some interesting experiences staying in hostels, since for most of us it was our first time living in these “accommodations”. We camped in Italy, which I didn’t think was possible, but I guess if you really are about a half hour outside the main city, they have camp sites!!

Apart from some bickering between the 8 girls on the trip (who could have predicted that?! :)), we had an amazing time and got to see so many beautiful things. Unfortunately my camera died the first day, so I don’t have any of my own photos to post, but we will try some of the ones my friends took:

This picture is me standing on an overlook of Florence. Probably one of the most beautiful cities I have seen!!

Here I am sticking my hand into the “boca de veritad” (or the mouth of truth). For all you Audrey Hepburn fans, yes it is the same one from Roman Holiday.

Here I am with my friends Kaila and Libby in true venetian style wearing our recently purchased masks!

And for everyone who has seen Letters to Juliet, we did visit Juliets house, but unfortunately they have taken away the letter wall because of graffiti… I still touched the statue for luck though!!
And to end this Italy section, in true Kristen fashion, I have included a Kristen original… food picture:

Now, after we returned from Italy late Tuesday night, we went to bed and woke up for our comparative education course on Wednesday. This course is where we compare and contrast different education systems of America, England and Sweden. After that, we were in for a treat… our first swedish class!! Probably one of the funniest things I have ever experienced… my swedish skills are limited, but I am improving rapidly!! Jag heter Kristen, jag ar jatte glad. ๐Ÿ™‚
Then, because I am completely crazy, my friend libby and I decided to hop on a plane Thursday morning for Munich. We attended to 200th anniversary of Oktoberfest!!! It was amazing. My cousin and his buddies from home went as well, so we hung out with them. We went to the tents, we drove to Austria, we really just had an amazing time. And don’t worry, I only got back yesterday so I haven’t got pictures yet, but look out for them in the next post!! Until next time, peace, love and traveling the world!

Kristen – I am so jealous of your spontaneity! I am in England now and am stressed about planning a trip to Dublin in two weeks. It looks like you are having an awesome time though, and I love your pictures from Italy (so beautiful!). I’m going to try taking a leaf out of your book from now on and be more spontaneous!

Your blog is really fun to read by the way ๐Ÿ™‚
